Preview: U.S. New Vehicle Sales Should Decline For The Second Straight Month In November

Analysts expect U.S. new vehicle sales to fall for the second straight month in November. According to the Bloomberg consensus, they should decline to 16.10m(e) SAAR, down from 16.21m in October.

However, three specialists I’m following closely, are betting on a larger downward surprise, below the 16.0m SAAR threshold, in a context where the new wave of coronavirus affected demand.

1- Industry consultants J.D. Power and LMC Automotive saidthe seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR) for total new-vehicle sales is expected to be 15.8 million units, down 1.3 million units from 2019.

2- In the meantime, Cox Automotive notedthe sales pace for light vehicles is expected to fall to 15.8 million this month, down from last year’s 17.0 million pace, but more importantly down from last month’s 16.2 million level.

3- Finally, Wards Intelligence expects sales to reach 15.7 million SAAR in November.
