U.S. new vehicle sales should rebound in December after dropping to a 3-month low. According to the Bloomberg consensus, they should rise to 15.73m(e) SAAR, up from 15.55m in November.
However, three specialists I’m following closely, are betting on a upward surprise:
1- Industry consultants J.D. Power and LMC Automotive said “The seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR) for total new-vehicle sales is expected to be 16.4 million units, down 500,000 units from 2019.”
2- In the meantime, TrueCar, Inc noted “Total new vehicle sales will reach 1,605,101 units in December 2020, down 6.5% from a year ago, when adjusted for the same number of selling days. This month’s seasonally adjusted annualized rate (SAAR) for total light vehicle sales is an estimated 16.2 million units.”
3- Finally, Wards Intelligence expects sales to reach 15.8 million SAAR in December.
